My Process

I am a self taught artist who draws inspiration from life, spirituality, travels, landscapes, design, and music.  I enjoy using bold rich colors and usually incorporate metallics & iridescent colors in my work.  Using various tools, not likely a paint brush, I paint on acrylic panels using acrylic paint. The process of painting on acrylic, also referred to as plexiglass is known as “verre églomisé,” which dates back to the 1700’s.  The paint is applied to the backside of the acrylic (or glass in some cases), and the interpretation of the image is viewed from the front.  I use layers of paint to dictate the amount of light that I want to come through the painting.

It took three years to create an art stand/easel that would allow the artwork to stay suspended in a way that I could  view and paint on both sides of the acrylic panels. Additional mediums I enjoy when not painting on plexiglass include inks, collage papers, and acrylic paints on canvas or board.
